Description
A fabulous antique Airedale Terrier heavy cast iron doorstop manufactured by Hubley in 1930s. A sort after collectible, as well as a wonderful decorative doorstop for the home.
The Hubley Manufacturing Company was first incorporated in 1894 in Pennsylvania, USA by John Hubley. The first Hubley toys appeared in 1909, and were made of cast iron with themes that ranged from horse-drawn vehicles and different breeds of dogs, to tractors, steam shovels and guns. They started branching out into household items such as bookends, doorstops in the 1930s. Around 1980 Hubley was bought out by CBS Toys, but sadly all production of the original toys and household items has now stopped making them something of a rarity and highly collectible.
